Alabama WR Jameson Williams exits CFP championship with apparent leg injury

Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams exited Monday night’s College Football Playoff national championship game after suffering what appeared to be a non-contact left knee injury as he completed a 40-yard reception from quarterback Bryce Young. Williams was helped off the field to the injury tent and initially was unable to put weight on the knee.

Williams appeared to plant his left foot awkwardly and stumbled as he tried to regain his balance, grabbing his left knee as he hit the ground with 12:28 remaining in the second quarter. He was later shown on the broadcast walking to the locker room under his own power, before eventually returning to the sideline in sweatpants.

Williams entered the night leading the SEC in receiving yards per game (107.6), receiving touchdowns (15) and yards per catch (20.1). He had 65 yards on four receptions before the injury.
