Angels’ Shohei Ohtani removed from Sunday’s game with stomach virus

Los Angeles Angels two-way player Shohei Ohtani exited Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers due to a stomach virus, L.A. announced.

Ohtani pitched four innings, giving up three runs on five hits and recording two strikeouts. At the plate, Ohtani was 0-for-1 with a walk. He was replaced in the lineup by Kurt Suzuki.

Coming into Sunday, Ohtani was 10-7 on the mound with a 2.69 ERA. He was slashing .266/.357/.517 entering Sunday with 27 home runs and 72 RBIs.

The Angels remain in fourth place in the American League West.
