Antony has been left out of Ajax’s matchday squad to face Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie on Sunday, with Manchester United considering putting together a fresh bid for the 22-year-old.
It is understood the Ajax board are discussing Antony’s potential fee but the expectation is that they will demand €100million for the Brazilian winger.
The Athletic reported on Thursday that United had revived their interest in Antony but had seen an offer of €80million (£67.6million) rejected on Wednesday.
United are also considering a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo as an alternative to a deal for Antony.
It is believed, however, that PSV are waiting for the conclusion of their Champions League play-off with Rangers on Wednesday before making any decisions on his future. The first leg last week finished 2-2 at Ibrox, with the winner of the tie qualifying for this season’s group stage.
It was reported earlier this year that while Gakpo, 23, had agreed to extend his current deal by a year to 2026, an understanding was formed to ensure that if suitable offers landed this summer, PSV would cooperate.

Antony, meanwhile, has scored two goals and assisted two in Ajax’s three matches so far this season. He has netted 18 goals in 57 appearances since joining from Sao Paulo in 2020.
Erik ten Hag’s side lost their opening game at home to Brighton & Hove Albion and were humbled 4-0 at Brentford last Sunday.
Casemiro will not arrive in time, however, for United’s home game against Liverpool on Monday. The Brazilian midfielder has had issues with his visa.
