Celtics’ Marcus Smart, Suns’ Mikal Bridges headline 2021-22 NBA All-Defensive teams
Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart garnered 99 first-place votes of a possible 100 to lead 2021-22 NBA All-Defensive First Team vote-getters, the league announced Friday. The Suns’ Mikal Bridges got 95 first-place votes and the Jazz‘s Rudy Gobert nabbed 76.
Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Grizzlies‘ Jaren Jackson Jr. round out the All-Defensive First Team. Gobert, along with the Nets‘ Ben Simmons, were unanimous selections last season.
Bam Adebayo (Heat), Jrue Holiday (Bucks), Matisse Thybulle (76ers), Robert Williams II (Celtics) and Draymond Green (Warriors) comprise the All-Defensive Second Team.
