Chris Godwin’s future? Best playoff matchups for Tampa Bay? Bucs mailbag – The Athletic

This is a good week to open up the ol’ Bucs mailbag and take your questions. It’s a short week, going from Monday Night Football to a Sunday on the road, so everything is compacted and it’s easy to check in with you guys and your curiosity.

I get to answer a ton of questions on Twitter, but this is a great way to offer up some more in-depth answers, and I like to see out what you as a collective group are wondering about, concerned about, looking ahead to. We’ll try to do these on a more regular basis the rest of this season. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving!

What’s the timeline looking like for Carlton Davis to return? — Kiran R.

This question got a little easier Wednesday morning, as the Bucs designated him to return to practice, opening a 21-day window in which he can be activated to the 53-man roster. It’s a short week, with really only one full practice (Thursday) so it’s harder for him to show enough to have coaches confident in him being able to jump back in. So while it would be nice to have him back Sunday at Indianapolis, it’s more likely that he returns next week when the Bucs play in Atlanta. I think Sean Murphy-Bunting’s healthy return makes it less urgent for Davis to get back out there and perhaps buys him another week to recover more fully.

What do we see as the best and worst matchups for the Bucs this postseason? Not to get ahead of ourselves, but given our division placement, I’m starting to look at the postseason. —Curtis S.
