City turn to other left-back options as they won’t pay £50m for Cucurella
Manchester City will look at other options for left-back this summer — and are not willing to meet Brighton’s £50million-plus ($61m) asking price for Marc Cucurella, The Athletic understands.
City are still interested in a deal for the defender, but are comfortable with signing someone else to play in that position if Brighton do not lower their demands.
Brighton have set a £50m-plus valuation for the Spaniard, who is rated even higher than Ben White, according to sources in the negotiations.

Stalled Cucurella pursuit leaves Man City’s attack at risk of being undermined
Last season, Cucurella played 38 games in an impressive first season at Brighton, registering one goal and two assists. The 24-year-old has expressed his desire to join the reigning Premier League champions.
Cucurella was not involved in Brighton’s 5-1 win against La Liga side Espanyol on Saturday. As The Athletic also revealed on Saturday, conversations between clubs have come to an end and a major change in the negotiations is needed for a potential deal to come through.
City are now understood to be exploring other potential signings.
City need to sign a new left-back after letting Oleksandr Zinchenko join Arsenal earlier this summer. They have already added Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Kalvin Phillips.
