Dallas Wings defeat Connecticut Sun to force Game 3 in WNBA Playoffs

The Dallas Wings fended off elimination on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Connecticut Sun 89-79 in Game 2. There will be a Game 3 in their first-round series, with the winner advancing to the WNBA Semifinals.

Kayla Thornton led the scoring for the Wings. She posted 20 points, five assists and four rebounds. Wings guard Allisha Gray also had double-digit scoring, putting up 15 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Teaira McCowan provided an offensive spark coming off the bench, recording a double-double 17 points and 11 rebounds on 8-of-13 shooting from the field.

As a team, the Wings shot 48 percent from the floor and recorded 11 3-pointers. Dallas held the Sun to 45.2 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from 3.

Game 3 of the Wings and Sun series will be Wednesday. The winner of Connecticut and Dallas will take on the winner of the Chicago Sky and New York Liberty in the WNBA Semifinals.
