West Ham have accepted a £15million offer for his transfer, with no add-ons. Diop is believed to be keen on the switch to west London and is expected to sign a five-year deal. If all proceeds as planned, a medical could take place as soon as Tuesday morning.
Fulham had previously suggested offers worth £12million and £15million for the former Toulouse centre-back, with West Ham seeking further add-ons, however, a compromise has now been reached. It is understood the fee will be paid over three years.
Diop signed for West Ham from Toulouse in 2018 and became a regular during his first two seasons in east London. He has though found first-team opportunities harder to come by over the past two campaigns, making 13 Premier League appearances last season.
Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma have all been preferred by manager David Moyes and West Ham also signed Nayef Aguerd from Rennes last month, pushing Diop even further down the pecking order.
An injury to Aguerd in pre-season threatened to delay Diop’s possible exit, with the Moroccan defender required to undergo ankle surgey last month and could now miss as much as 10 weeks, according to Moyes.
Diop missed Saturday’s game with Manchester City, amid speculation about his future.
Kurt Zouma was West Ham’s only fit centre-back to face Manchester City – and he got injured
“Issa Diop didn’t put himself forward to play in the last couple of games and we will see what happens with that in the next couple of weeks,” Moyes said.
Fulham have been desperate to bolster their defensive ranks, with Diop a key target.
