Mets’ Jacob deGrom throws perfect 5 innings, broken up in sixth

In just his second game back from a lengthy rehab, New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom threw five perfect innings on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves in his first start at Citi Field since July 7, 2021.

DeGrom’s perfect game bid ended when he walked Ehire Adrianza with two outs in the sixth. The next batter, Dansby Swanson, then launched a two-run homer, ending the no-hit bid for deGrom.

DeGrom’s final stat line is 5.2 innings pitched, one hit, one walk, two runs and 12 strikeouts.
