Oilers defeat Kings in Game 7, advance to second round for first time since 2017

The Edmonton Oilers advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs Saturday night, winning 2-0 over the Los Angeles Kings to capture the series in seven games. It is the first time since 2016-17 that the Oilers have qualified for the second round of the playoffs.

Oilers captain Connor McDavid recorded four goals and 10 assists in the series, including the second goal in Game 7. He becomes the fourth player in franchise history to register 10 assists in a playoff series.

The Oilers (49-27-6) finished second in the Pacific Division during the regular season. They will play the winner of the series between the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars.
