Will this be Mike Zimmer’s last game? Bears-Vikings preview and predictions for Week 18 – The Athletic

Mike Zimmer this week sounded like a coach who knows change could be on the horizon. He said he’s proud of all that he’s accomplished in his eight years leading the Vikings. He said he hasn’t taken for granted each game in which he’s led the team.

But now it’s well known that Vikings ownership is considering changes after the team failed to make the playoffs three of the last four years. That has rendered the team’s regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears on Sunday largely meaningless for both teams.

So as the Vikings get ready for one last game this season, Chad GraffArif Hasan and Jon Krawczynski got together one final time to break down the game and offer their predictions.

What I’m watching

Graff: Zimmer. This one might be obvious. But I get the sense that he knows what could be coming the day after this game. So I want to see how he handles what may be his final game on the home sideline at U.S. Bank Stadium. And it won’t surprise me if fans give him a nice ovation, not because they’re pleased with the last two seasons, but as a thank you for eight years of hard work before a move that feels inevitable.
