Wolves boss Bruno Lage says signing a centre-back is the top priority this month.
He also revealed that Pedro Neto could be fit enough to resume full training with the team by the end of January.
With Morocco international Romain Saiss currently at the Africa Cup of Nations and Willy Boly out with another injury, Lage only has Conor Coady and Max Kilman to pick from as senior centre-backs.
Dion Sanderson (Birmingham) and Toti Gomes (Grasshoppers) have been recalled from loans as cover this month, while Leander Dendoncker and Fernando Marcal have played at centre-back before, but Lage says bringing in a new player has to be Wolves’ focus.
“The area I think we need to improve is centre-back,” he said today. “We don’t have players for that position… at the moment we just have two. So I think we need to bring one player, the priority is one player for that position.
“Saiss, Coady and Max are doing well but three is not enough, if something happens to one, like Saiss now, I don’t have anyone because Boly is injured most of the time since the beginning of the season.”
